ANAD Rep. Jun Alcover called on law enforcement investigators not to discount the possibility of that the January 25 bomb explosion on a Newman Goldliner bus, in Makati City, could be the handiwork of the Maoist terrorist CPP-NPA-NDF.
In his privilege speech, yesgterday (January 31), Rep. Alcover said that the Maoist terrorists’ track record shows their capability in the manufacture and use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) not only against government security forces but also civilians.
“The ambush killing of about 6 policemen and wounding of 2 others, including Police Inspector Antonio Rueco, his wife SPO2 Mary Anne Rueco, and his brother PO2 Herminio Rueco was preceded by 3 IED explosions using the same 81mm mortar shell,” Rep. Alcover pointed out.
“In fact, gore killings of either military, police, and even civilians, in the different parts of the country, bore the signature of the Maoist terrorist NPA. No one can ever forget that grizzly Plaza Miranda bombing, in the late 60’s, which later on revealed as the handiwork of Jose Ma. Sison and his cabal of ruthless individuals,” Rep. Alcover explained.
“ANAD strongly condemns these despicable and highly outrageous acts against humanity blatantly perpetrated by the Maoist terrorists,” Rep. Alcover said.
He explained that the initial report made by law enforcement investigators pointing to some Muslim extremists groups as those behind the Makati bomb explosion has many questions and loopholes that need to be addressed.
“Many Filipinos are suspecting that the initial police report alleging Muslim extremists’ handiwork is to sugar coat and a cover-up of Maoist terrorists complicity in an effort not to derail the forthcoming peace talks, in February,” said Rep. Alcover.
“Government should make a thorough explanation to us and the Filipino people in the spirit of transparency, a policy that President Aquino III has espoused all along,” he added.
